Discover the Island on 2 Wheels
Exploring Koh Lanta on a Motorcycle;
Koh Lanta, a picturesque island in southern Thailand, offers a variety of exciting routes (and many secret offroad routes which we will be revealing in our upcoming blog section, route per route, along with youtube videos of us riding the routes to show the way). Koh Lanta has routes and roads that cater to different skill levels and interests. For the more adventurous, the Koh Lanta Island West Route is a 25.7 km point-to-point trail that’s perfect for road biking (and also great in off season, with less traffic, as high season has high traffic during certain times of day).
This challenging route begins at the main pier on the west side of the island and winds its way to the lighthouse in the national park, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and the Andaman Sea. Along the way, riders can take in the island’s lush vegetation, scenic beaches, and quaint villages.
For a more leisurely experience, the Koh Lanta Old Town – Koh Lanta Noi trail is a great option. This trail starts in the charming Old Town of Koh Lanta and ends on Koh Lanta Noi, a smaller island located north of Koh Lanta. As part of the Mu Koh Lanta National Park, this route offers a unique opportunity to experience local life and wildlife, with chances to spot monkeys, birds, and other tropical creatures. The trail takes riders through a mix of paved roads and dirt paths, providing a glimpse into the island’s rural landscape and the daily lives of its inhabitants.
For those looking for a more relaxed ride, the Ko Lanta Loop is a 45 km recreational cycle route that’s part of the Tour de Southern Thailand – West Coast. This scenic route takes riders on a leisurely tour of the island, passing through picturesque villages, beaches, and scenic viewpoints. The route is well-marked and suitable for riders of all skill levels, making it an excellent choice for families or those looking for a low-key ride.
Finally, the Kantiang Bay route offers a more leisurely and scenic ride, with a detailed biker map available to help navigate the route. This route takes riders through the island’s interior, passing through lush forests and along scenic coastline, providing stunning views of the surrounding waters and islands. Whether you’re a seasoned biker or just looking for a relaxing ride, Koh Lanta’s bike routes have something for everyone.
